Freddy Krueger is Back!
Just when fans of the great ’84 classic Nightmare on Elm Street think that Freddy Krueger couldn’t possibly be scarier, Platinum Dunes braved a remake of the film. Known for making modern horror films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, the production house Platinum Dunes which was created by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and Michael Bay did not bother to go back for lesser movie franchises and, being somewhat movie daredevils, went as high as they could go; the very scary slain pedophile Freddy Krueger who resurrects in dream world, killing teenagers in their sleep.
Many people who have seen the original movie starring Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger anticipated that the successor will not be as good as Englund, let alone surpass him in wonderfully playing the role. However, Jackie Earle Haley, the remake’s Freddy Krueger proved to the original movie’s millions of fan that he is very determined to be worthy of being the new Freddy. Thanks to modern movie make-up techniques, the 2010’s Freddy Krueger looks appropriately horrible at all the right spots, with a fractional singed cheek that slightly flaps when he moves too quickly or when he exhales.
The new Nightmare on Elm Street has deeper, more disturbing scenes as Bayer dived deeper into the mythos of Elm Street, giving the audience glimpses of Freddy when he was still alive; glimpses of how he was like before the angry parents of the children he molested burned him.
